Jim Stekelberg is a Veritas GMAT instructor based in Portland, Oregon. Jim, a 760 scorer, has been teaching GMAT courses for nearly three years. At the moment, Jim's primary professional focus is on founding and running his own Certified Public Accounting firm, focusing on tax compliance and planning for individual taxpayers. Jim can be found locked away in his office nearly every waking moment between January and April, although he does steal some time away to teach weekend GMAT seminars in downtown Portland or enjoy the fine culinary offerings of the city. In addition to running his own CPA practice and teaching for Veritas, Jim is a full time accounting instructor at Clackamas Community College just outside Portland, where he oversees and teaches the college's tax preparation training course designed to prepare students to become licensed tax preparers. Before going into teaching, Jim worked as a corporate tax consultant at a Big Four CPA firm in Los Angeles. Jim is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a master's degree in tax accounting. He also holds a bachelor of arts with honors in history from Rutgers University.
